6x35mm

The 6x35mm round was developed at the request of a government customer who needed a larger round than the 5.56, but was optimized for a short barreled rifle as part of the CQB/PDW program. The round is a 65 grain, open tip match type. Its casing is based on the .221 Fireball, but with a large rifle primer as opposed to the small primer on the .221 Fireball. The powder is blended for a complete burn within the first seven inches of the barrel, making this cartridge ideal for barrels in the 8-10” range. The 6x35mm round is rated at 2,425 fps and has 848 ft-lbs, which puts it at 74 ft-lbs higher than the 5.56 NATO round, when fired from a 10” barrel.

All these characteristics form a cartridge that has greater terminal velocity and better ballistic capabilities, even out to 300 meters. It makes an ideal candidate for compact weapons that are in use by our military vehicle drivers, flight crews, and other personnel who are limited on their space but still require powerful defensive and offensive weaponry. KAC’s PDW and SR635 are both weapon platforms that were created around this uniquely powerful and versatile cartridge.
